Jimmy from Rwanda has been in Heidelberg since September for his voluntary service in the integrative kindergarten “Pusteblume”. The children love Jimmy, he has already started playing actively in a soccer club and is learning German enthusiastically. Despite newspaper advertisements, flyers, newsletters and the mobilization of all personal contacts we could not find a host family in Heidelberg yet.
Nevertheless, we have a good alternative: Jimmy lives together with a member of our regional group in a flat share, ten minutes’ walk from the place of action and the football club and feels very comfortable. However, the monthly rent of the shared room exceeds the budget of the volunteer program. For this reason, we would like to set up a support group to cover his volunteer service as a whole.
